A Day (2017) Is the Best Movie You’ve Never Seen

What would you do if there was a movie that you almost assuredly hadn’t previously heard of, was potentially the best movie you had never seen, and was free to watch for most in America? You’d watch it, right? What if there was one small catch in that you had to use subtitles?

If you’re like I was up until about ten years ago, you’d probably find something else to watch. Then one day I realized that it only took a short time to adjust to them (about ten minutes into the movie), and after a certain point it began to feel like second nature. All it takes is that one film that interests you enough to get over the hump and dive in.

In the coming days, MovieSlap will be releasing an article discussing the rise of Korean cinema, so we were very happy to see our first Korean film recommendation come in. I’ve always enjoyed stories about time travel and time loops. In A Day, a Father finds himself trapped in a Groundhog Day-esque loop where he continually repeats the same day over and over, only this time it’s a race against the unknown to find a way to alter events in order to prevent a tragic outcome. That’s the extent of what I’ll say about the plot for now, and those who end up seeing this film will understand why.

For those of you who have yet to be introduced to Korean cinema, allow us to play matchmaker and send you on a blind date with the best movie you’ve never seen, A Day. Give this one twenty minutes, and I bet you will watch until he end. It’s that good.
