Movie Review: The Getaway (1972)
Here at Movieslap.com, you can expect to read brief movie reviews without a lot of fluff. Think of it as a launching pad to discuss the film with friends, rather than some stuffy person telling you things that you don’t care about. Today, we look at The Getaway (1972).
I have had limited exposure to Steve McQueen films. To date, my favorite has been Bullitt, which many consider to include the greatest car chase ever to grace the silver screen. Car chases aside, I found The Getaway to be even more entertaining. McQueen has that understated charisma that seems more and more rare these days. This movie had it all, and the digital transfer currently streaming on HBO Max is a thing of beauty. They just don’t make ’em like this anymore. This one is definitely recommended.
Don’t confuse this film with the Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger version of The Getaway that was released in 1994. That one, according to Rotten Tomatoes, is terrible.
